Questions about using bow?
I have a few questions using Bow:
What is the arc size on the bow? what effect will has on enemy? What is the reason to use Short Bow over Flatbow? I know Short Bow flight time is shorter than Flatbow but because it is shorter range. If using Flatbow attack at close range then the flight time should not matter so much. Do Long Bow and Flatbow deal less damage for target at close range? bow__________refire rate___range___*flight time____arc size ----------------------------------------------------------- Flatbow_______2.0 seconds___100'____1.00 seconds__large Short Bow_____2.0 seconds___060'____0.65 seconds__normal *flight time for target 60' away. okay, lets see, for bows i think a short bow is better because ONE you can fire 2 times faster, yet the dmage is the same, if your for pulling and that stuff, get a long bow, it does the same exact dmage. how ever a flat bow is pretty much a mix of a long bow and a short bow, and as for LARGE arc it means if the monster is moving it'll pretty much miss, which is why short bows have the advantage, because they hit about the range of you aggro bubble, maybe a little more. well thats my opinion, personally not much a bow user as for arc size, you have pretty much 3 arcs, shallow, medium then REALLY HIGH UP THERE, lol and for damge, they're all peircing... yep... all bows are peircing, makes sense i hope this made sense lol |

Ya...that made some sense.
Its true what you said about longbows missing moving targets because their flight time means they can't lead enough. However, I dob't like shorrtbows much becuase they tend to get you too close to things. As a ranger, it is one of your advantages in many cases to attack form farther away than any other class. Which is why I like Flatbows. You can get some decent range, and decent chance to hit a mover. Your best bet is to get one of each lol. |

Different arc sizes can shoot over different obstacles. A high arc is useful for hiding behind cover and shooting, for example.
As far as I understand it anyway (can somebody who knows for sure please edit it into the Bow wiki article?) |

Longbow - good for pulling
Short - Fast and accurate Horn - all attacks have 10%AP I remember there being a big forum on this, somewhere in community works I think. Try looking for it; it has everything you need to know for this. |

composite, recurve, dead, eternal etc are the best IMO. Medium range, fast flight time, virtually no arc...but yeah, sometimes to kill you need to get close...

but either way, a flatbow would probably be better than a short bow because it's just more versatile than a short bow. you'll still always want to have Read the Wind or FW glued to your skill bar if you want to hit anything consistently, though. |

Well a Flatbow is usually just used for pulling then you switch to your faster bow's that's atleast what I do, Long range bows can also be nice in the new uw to distract wurm sieges.

flatbows are just for when you need cover, or you have FW or RtW in your bar. Otherwise, use something else, especially if you have interrupts.
And, flatbows are as fast as shortbows gardar, unless you mean flight time... |
